9, 2009  To Kansas, Too Late"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Doug Raflik and I met the Tour 5 guests in Denver, and blasted east post haste.\u00a0 Our 2 p.m. departure was too late to catch the nice supercell which impacted the Dodge City area, unfortunately.\u00a0 We made good time east on I-70 and then south towards Edwards County in Kansas.\u00a0 As the supercell came into view to our south, it croaked.\u00a0 I shot one or two pics of the pathetic thing, and then we traipsed through the high grass surrounding an old abandoned farm house.\u00a0 There were no new abandoned farm houses in the area.<\/p>\n<p>This day was a bit of a bummer, as we had some high hopes and wound up with little following a very long and determined drive.\u00a0 Our tour had just begun, though, and the weather pattern was looking good for the next week or so.\u00a0 This tour would wind up being one of the most successful for Tempest in terms of consecutive chase days with supercells.<\/p>\n<p><a
