After a long couple of chase days, I began this one in Oklahoma City. It was time to head to Denver for the next three tours, but northeastern Kansas beckoned. Severe storms initiated near the KS/NE border, south of Beatrice, and moved east. Mark and I were only as far as Topeka, though, and it would be an effort in futility (or in Missouri—same thing) to catch these. We headed west on I-70 towards Denver, with the hope that something else might go up, perhaps around Salina. We wound up on weak junk at sunset near New Cambria, east of Salina. A couple of locals drove up to shoot the breeze with us real storm chasers. We informed them that we were the most famous chasers in the world, and that we weren’t supposed to talk to strangers.
On an even less-important note, I was playing around with some new fonts for my copyright information on these images. In the interests of full disclosure, I have decided on MS Reference Sans Serif for now (as seen on the final image). “Sans serif” means “without serifs”. I am discriminating against serifs, and I hope you will join me in this. DON’T USE SERIFS.
