March 15, 2010 Red Rock Canyon

March 15, 2010 By Bill Leave a Comment

Red Rock Canyon is a desert area with colorful and stark scenery along Hwy 14, north of Mojave, CA. Parts of Red Rock Canyon look like a miniaturized version of the canyonland areas of southern and eastern Utah. The Morgantis and I spent the final couple of hours of daylight on this Monday with our cameras, just a stone’s throw from the main highway. I liked the switch from (the warm and fuzzy feelings of) color to black and white. The black and white gives a bleaker, starker, and more hostile look to the landscape…and that’s what we want when we visit the desert, right?!
