May 6 and 7, 2011, old stuff on down days

May 7, 2011 By Bill Leave a Comment

The benign weather pattern continued the following two days.  On May 6, we killed time at the abandoned town of Picher, OK, and at Big Brutus in Cherokee County, KS.  We stayed in Iola that night.

May 8th looked like a chase day in Nebraska, so the 7th was a reposition day.  We had lunch at the Taco Time in Salina, and then visited the World’s Largest Ball of Twine in Cawker City, KS.  After dinner at the Green Apple Cafe in Cozad, we headed to the nearby Rodeway Inn to relax and to relive the wild and crazy events of the previous 36 hours.
