It is always nice to drive into a small town and to see the hurricane flags hoisted.
This beach is near the west end of Emerald Isle, NC, and was completely deserted 15 hours prior to Irene’s landfall.
The images above are from Friday afternoon, in and around Atlantic Beach, as Irene neared.
The images above are in and around Morehead City and Beaufort, NC, during the morning of August 27, prior to Irene’s eye passage. The two below were in the calm of the eye.
And, the images below were taken after the eye had moved north of Morehead City.
