Tempest Tours was treated to a magnificent lightning display at dusk on this chase day. We began in Goodland, KS, targeted the area around Merriman, NE, and wound up west of Hyannis, NE, just south of Bingham. See the Part One entry for this date for more details!
Shortly before sunset our group headed several miles down a narrow paved lane, south of Bingham, NE. This is in the heart of the Sandhills (or at least the western heart), in extreme northeastern Garden County. I found a relatively open area in the hilly terrain with decent views in most directions. I set up a couple of tripods, and shot nearly 650 images in the next 80 minutes. The main show was an electrified classic/LP supercell which drifted east-northeastward: from our south-southwest, to our south-southeast, and then to our east.
