June 14 was the last chase day for Tour 6. Since we were beginning the day in Hot Springs, SD, and since we had to be back in Denver by noon the following day, we were not especially interested in the long drive to play the better severe weather and supercell potential from Grand Island to Omaha. We headed down into northeastern Colorado, where there was some risk of a storm before sunset. Nothing developed. A gorgeous supercell developed near West Point, NE, northwest of Omaha; but that area was a bit out of our chase range today, unfortunately. We found a dying small town to explore —- Willard, Colorado —- and wound up the day near Harrisburg, Nebraska, for a pretty sunset behind some weak convection.

Thank you for the nice comments! This was my first time at Willard, and it was fun to poke around a bit and to take some pics. Yes, that fridge with the old Pepsi can in it is in the elevator. If you have some old images of the general store when it was in operation I would be happy to post those here, too.

Great pictures. I’m glad to see someone taking an interest in this little forgotten town! We actually own the old general store from your pictures and I think that field as well. We farm around the area. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Also, is that fridge in the old elevator?
