A slight risk of supercells with perhaps a tornado was forecast for Central Texas on May 27. We had lunch in San Angelo, and moseyed east a bit to the Cherokee area in San Saba County. We wound up on an interesting storm north of San Saba City, which featured a nice, organized base. The cell was moving to the southeast and its low base looked like it might try to get serious, but really strong rotation with the wall cloud was not evident. The storm moved into a non-chaser friendly area between San Saba and Burnet, and we tried to catch up again via Lampasas on the east side. We were in the storm’s precip for a time, and then had a rainbow, and just south of Burnet were near the action area again. We got into the RFD and had some scary low-base stuff whirling around, but that was about it. Once the storm moved beyond Marble Falls, it was time to wave goodbye to it and to find dinner.
