The prospects for severe storms continued on the High Plains of Colorado today, but overall shear was on the “lame” side. We began in Yuma and had lunch in Fort Morgan. Storms went up on schedule during the afternoon in the Last Chance area, and the updrafts split. The right splits died and the left-splits persisted, looked okay for a bit, and then fizzled. A little farther east, around Anton, we monitored another cell or two. These were weak supercells and they did not get very well organized or impressive-looking.
