This was a nice day for a jaunt from Palm Desert to the western shore of the Salton Sea. Most of the little settlements along the shore of the Salton Sea are in decline. As the Salton Sea slowly evaporates, the shore recedes, the water becomes saltier, the fish die-offs become larger, and the quality of life for both man and most wildlife decreases. I was looking to photograph abandoned motels or other old buildings, but I didn’t have much luck with these. I poked around Desert Shores and Salton City, and found a few interesting “scenes” near the shore.
