I had to be back home in California to work over the weekend of June 6/June 7, and I flew back to Denver on June 8 to meet up with Tour 6. This tour would commence on June 9 in Denver, with Chris Gullikson as tour director. Since I also had to work a couple of shifts back home at the airport at Point Mugu on the following weekend, I would only be able to tag along for the first few days of Tour 6. When I returned to Denver on June 15th, I would spell Chris and lead the tour for its last few days. Got it?!
On June 9th, Chris and I gave the new guests the orientation, where we explain the safety guidelines and let them know what to expect on a typical chase day. There was little-to-no risk of severe storms to chase on the High Plains today, so we took it easy and set up for the next day’s risk in Nebraska. Our first stop after lunch in Denver was an old, long-abandoned house west of Last Chance.
We had a pit stop at the store in Anton, and I asked the clerk if he knew of any local places of interest to photograph. He mentioned a little church north of Lindon, so I thanked him for the suggestion and we made our way to church!
On our way back to the main highway, a bird of prey stayed in place long enough near the road for some shots.
