Start, Van Horn, TX; end Raton, NM; 513 miles; lunch at the China Dragon in Carlsbad, NM

A front was shoving any good moisture against the Texas gulf coast, and so the tour would have to kill a couple of days on the High Plains and drift towards the next best severe risk area.  There was a risk of thunder for all of eastern NM, and we found a high-based storm a little northeast of Roswell.  It was barely worth it for us to stick around it as it drifted to the southeast.  Towards sunset we had a good look at a colorful hailer east of Las Vegas, NM.
