Quality moisture continued to be in short supply on the Plains, except down towards OK, where there was a slight risk. That area was forecast to get some severe wind and hail on this day, with the activity heading to the southeast. I had my eye on North Dakota for July 4th, so today we would play the marginal risk in Nebraska and southern South Dakota. The poor low-level moisture resulted in some high-based junky storms in the vicinity of Wounded Knee, and then east of there a little towards Vetal (between Martin and Mission). It was a long day to watch storms struggle, but fortunately we were provided a chance at some CG lightning photography around sunset, and I got lucky on one to the south.
