There was a risk of severe weather for much of the High Plains today.  I opted for the middle ground, near the Cheyenne Ridge east of Kimball, NE.  Again, the supercell prospects were somewhat so-so due to marginal shear.  Tornado prospects were also meager, as low-level moisture amounts were not that great (upper 50s).  The rather lame May chase weather continued.

We motored north from the Ovid area and placed ourselves in front of some high-based and rather junky storms in the Nebraska Panhandle, near Gurley.

These shoved some outflow eastward, and I angled back to the southeast towards Chappell to stay in front and out of the dust and hail.  Near Lodgepole I should have headed westward towards Sidney and a new, tail-end cell, but elected to stay out of hail.  We ended up north of Ovid on the NE/CO line, with a great stormy sunset scene to our west. Unfortunately, the lightning activity in this storm was infrequent.
