I found myself atop San Nicolas Island midday, with beautiful vistas over the ocean in all directions. This was shortly after a rain event. Winds were from the WNW, and the flow around the island caused low-level convergence in the lee of the island, on the west end. This “island convergence zone” contributed to some lift and a small shower right on the western tip. Despite the relatively strong flow from the WNW at low and mid-levels, the shower remained in the same area for an hour or so. These images show views over the airport towards Santa Barbara Island (to the NE), a view towards Nicktown (to the N), and towards the coastline (to the SSW).
