This entry is a bit of a mishmash of images from San Nicolas Island from late February. First up, a convective storm cell moves over the airport from west to east on the 20th. It showed a little structure and it rained for a few minutes.
Next are a bunch of pics from nice vantage points above the southern coastline (on the west side). Andy and I found a little crater, with water in it still from recent rains. The hillsides were nice and green due to the wet winter. The second-to-last image below is from the north coast. The vegetative cover is quite different north versus south. The final image show a little hillside covered by shells. I think an archaeologist would call this a “midden.”
Lastly, we came upon a wayward seal a little east of Rock Crusher. This poor thing was at least 100 yards inland, with a cliff between it and the beach, where its mom and all of its friends were hanging out. It looked tired and dried out. Andy I went back into town for help, and a few firefighters helped us get the seal back to the water.
