While on San Nicolas Island from January 22 to January 29, I was treated to a good deal of foggy weather. The combination of sun and fog produced very decent fogbows on two different days. One was midday, and a couple of days later there was a fogbow to the west, an hour or two after sunrise. Fogbows are white because the water droplets in fog are too small to refract the light into colors, as occurs in rainbows. Also below is a photo at sunrise with a low fog bank offshore, just below the elevation of the airfield, and a lenticular cloud to the north at sunrise on January 29.
