A cold upper-level low was tracking overhead this afternoon, and a batch of convection developed just to the west of me here in the Conejo Valley. I jumped into the Xterra and stayed with the activity to Malibu. It showed a little organization and a tiered updraft base just southwest of Westlake Village, and it dumped a little ice pellet shower on me in the Santa Monica Mountains along Hwy 23. The storm cells weakened as sunset approached, but I stuck around above the coast line at Malibu to shoot the pretty sunset.
