Time lapse video of the chase by Chris G., including drone footage

This was an easy chase, as we were able to brunch in Chadron and then make our way a little west to Harrison to watch storm initiation.  As it turned out, the activity fell a bit short with regard to severe weather output.  But, it made up for that with a great CG lightning display and an even better sunset.

We watched a big storm tower or two go up near Crawford, and then positioned ourselves east of a high-based storm that was west of Marsland.  This one went rather nuts with the CGs!  I managed to catch a couple with the camera by just clicking away constantly.  The little dusty spin-up with the storm a little later was in the Hemingford area.

The storm showed a little structure between Marsland and Hemingford (below).

From the Hemingford area we raced eastward to Alliance and then a few more miles east on Highway 2.  A super-duper sunset was afoot, replete with a rainbow!   A little later and a few miles farther east, we stopped to shoot lightning and mammatus to the south.

And, a few more images below (with the long lens)…
