I had an enjoyable Thanksgiving (November 25) on San Nicolas Island, including a bike ride from Nicktown to the airport and then up the hill on the east end of the island to the wind turbines. The sun was out and the wind was light — in other words, perfect!
The first three images below were from November 24 on the flight in. The east end of the airfield runway is visible.
And, here are shots from the runway area and the ASOS (weather) instrumentation on the 25th. The KNSI AP ASOS is on the south side of the runway and close to its east end.
Below are images from the runway to the windmills on the east end. Views of the ocean (down through the canyons) are towards the east, southeast and south for the most part!
The second-to-last pic above is towards the north, overlooking Nicktown.
