On this date, I moseyed downhill (down Cardiac Hill!) to the rugged north-side coast of San Nicolas Island. Yes, the foxes were near my building and gave me a nice send-off. This one looked pretty healthy.
Not surprisingly, the sandy spots along the coast were littered with elephant seals. The winter months are when the seals hang out at San Nicolas Island and make new seals. I managed to get pretty close, on a small cliff overlooking a bunch of the seals. The 100-400mm telephoto lens was perfect for close-ups of some of the seals.
This area was generally due north of Nicktown.
