A cold weather system dumped a bunch of snow on the San Gabriel Mountains on this date. Skies were clearing after noon. I headed to the Saddle Peak area of the Santa Monica Mountains, where I found some fantastic views in all directions. I could easily see Santa Barbara Island and San Nicolas Island. A snow or hail squall was hanging over the San Gabriel Mountains to the northeast, and showers and virga were over the Los Angeles Basin.
From here, I elected to head over to the Baldwin Hills (near Culver City) to shoot the downtown L.A. skyline towards sunset, as the snow-capped mountains would make a cool backdrop. I was not disappointed, though I was rather chilled. It was windy and cold at that hilltop!
