After two busy chase days (the big tornado near Morton, TX, on the 23rd and the severe storms all of the way to Sonora, TX on the 24th), the chasing on the Plains hit a wall for a while as good moisture was shunted too far south and east. Here are the particulars for each day:
May 25, Start Ozona/Lunch Pepe’s in Ozona/End Colorado City/224 miles, visit to Sonora Caverns
May 26, Start Colorado City/Lunch at the Big Texan in Amarillo/End Tucumcari/410 miles, visited ghost towns of Glenrio and Endee.
May 27, Start Tucumcari/brunch at Kix on 66 cafe in Tucumcari/end Woodward, weak showers in the western OK Panhandle
May 28, back to OKC for the end of the tour, then I headed to DEN
May 29 van prep in DEN for T5, severe storms in Nebraska went unchased
