March 5, 2024 Hike up Ladyface Mountain

March 5, 2024 By William Reid Leave a Comment

Doug and I chose to hike up Ladyface Mountain in Agoura Hills on this fine, mild afternoon. This mountain is very prominent and is immediately south of the Ventura Freeway between Kanan and Reyes Adobe. Ladyface was a tougher, steeper hike than I am accustomed to. The start of the trail is along Kanan, about a mile south of the 101. And then it is up, up, up and more up, up, up some more along a ridge line to the top. The peak of Ladyface is 2031 feet above sea level, or a little more than 1000 feet of elevation gain for the hike. Figure on a little more than an hour up and another hour down unless you are 19 years old and fearless. If that is the case, perhaps one can do the round-trip in 1.5 hours total. There are plenty of stretches with steep drop-offs along the trail.

The day was perfect, with great visibility and nice grass-covered slopes thanks to a very wet February. There are plenty of sources online to find more info on this mountain and trail. Here, I will just share a bunch of iPhone pics! Included are some sweeping views of Agoura Hills and the eastern side of Westlake Village along Lindero Canyon, north of the 101.
