was in progress on this afternoon, well to my west, in Santa Barbara County. \u00a0Even though it was more than 70 miles away, the smoke plume was quite prominent at around 6 p.m. \u00a0I thought it might make for some interesting photography in an hour or two, with the sun setting near the plume. \u00a0I marched up the trail on the nearby hillside with my camera bag and tripod, and made it to the top with plenty of time before sunset. \u00a0But, dang, the smoke plume was pathetic now. \u00a0It was just a measly, scrawny &#8220;puff&#8221; at best. \u00a0But, there were some distant smoke layers around, so maybe the sunset would be pretty. \u00a0I wound up with some pretty &#8220;zoom&#8221; shots of the sunset and the Thousand Oaks\/Newbury Park area with the zoom lens. \u00a0The
