atop San Nicolas Island midday, with beautiful vistas over the ocean in all directions. \u00a0This was shortly after a rain event. \u00a0Winds were from the WNW, and the flow around the island caused low-level convergence in the lee of the island, on the west end. \u00a0This &#8220;island convergence zone&#8221; contributed to some lift and a small shower right on the western tip. \u00a0Despite the relatively strong flow from the WNW at low and mid-levels, the shower remained in the same area for an hour or so. \u00a0These images show views over the airport towards Santa Barbara Island (to the NE), a view towards Nicktown (to the N), and towards the coastline (to the SSW).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 {\n\t\t\t\tmargin:
