What can be said that hasn’t already be said about this chase day? \u00a0The answer is EVERYTHING, because no one has any reason to say ANYTHING about this chase day. \u00a0Here we are, into the last week of May, and we are chasing a cold front down to the Rio Grande near Del Rio. \u00a0SPC showed a nice 5 percent tornado risk in the vicinity of Sanderson, Sonora, and Del Rio. \u00a0The chase “hopes” were to get on something in Texas…in the USA. \u00a0 Heck, that 5 percent tornado risk area extended up north to I-10, and the hatched-hail area extended up north to I-20 near Sweetwater. \u00a0 However, the chase day wound up an almost total dud, as almost nothing of interest developed in and around the target region here in southwest Texas. \u00a0 A nice supercell or two went up in the mountains south of the river. \u00a0These spun off a left split or two, towards our location on 90 between Sanderson and Del Rio. \u00a0The left splits showed some low-level structure for a short time, weakened and rained on us. \u00a0Apparently the air behind the front was too cool to permit any storm development.<\/p>\n
