The best chance for severe weather today was well south of I-70 on the High Plains, and we were starting in the Nebraska Panhandle. Since tornado potential was extremely low to our south due to marginal moisture, and since the Day Two forecast showed that we needed to be near the Black Hills of southwestern South Dakota, it made little sense to head to eastern New Mexico today for the slight risk. We hoped for something interesting in southeastern Wyoming, and wound up with very weak stuff around sunset near Chugwater.
