I know, that skinny thing is not a tree. Maybe it is a goofy yucca plant or something like that. But on San Nicolas Island, you might need to pretend that some of these taller living things are trees, because real, actual trees are very scarce. I rode around on a bike that I had to steal/borrow to get pictures of all of the trees that I saw within a few miles of Nicktown. Pretty much all of these were adjacent to or very close to a structure. I don’t think any of the trees are naturally occurring. Note how many of them are severely tilted over towards the southeast. Even the foxes have difficulty finding real trees on the island.
