June 26, 2006 Dodge City radar dome

During the lecture tour with Charles Doswell, we occasionally get the star treatment at the NWS offices on the Plains. On this day we chased some dust devils near Dalhart, and then visited the NWS office at Dodge City, KS. There were no storms within 200 miles…maybe 400 miles…so one of the forecasters gave us a tour inside the Doppler radar dome, high above the ground! Those are actual-sized people/Tempest guests standing next to the radar dish inside of the dome.
