May 21, 2007 SD Badlands washout
May 21st, 2007 by bill
It looked like this day might have good potential upon our departure from Belle Fourche. However, during lunch at Applebees in Rapid City, deep moist convection commenced nearby. It was too early. And, as usually occurs with early afternoon activity, there wound up being too many storms. The cells that we watched northeast and east of Rapid City were crummy, We wandered aimlessly into the Badlands, where our skeletal remains may someday be unearthed.
Through a fluke of perspective, it appears that this chaser (from the Eastern Hemisphere) is only an arm’s length from the gigantic obelisk, 12.4 miles distant.
In case of lightning, we found some good hiding places. For ANTS.
