June 21, 2007 North Platte, NE severe storm

June 21st, 2007 by bill

I spent a few non-chase days in Omaha from the 18th to the 20th, and had to be in Denver for the start of Tour 6 with Tempest on the 22nd. A risk of severe weather existed around Ogallala on the 21st, so that wound up to be a good day to make the drive west on I-80. Convection initiated west of North Platte, near Paxton, and moved east along the Interstate. A cell directly over North Platte had a wild laminar look and some impressive structure for an hour or so, but, like so many other storms this spring, was not close to making a tornado (not that I expected one!).
