June 19, 2008 Potter, NE small supercells

June 19th, 2008 by Bill

The southern Nebraska Panhandle along I-80 was the hot spot today.  A strong updraft or two developed in the vicinity of Kimball, and moved east.  Strangely, it appeared that left-splits and anti-cyclonic rotation were favored.  Cells would look good briefly, die rapidly, and then another one would quickly pop up.  As sunset approached we were a little east of Sidney, with nice LP cells to our south and east.  Both of these croaked, and we dashed back west to Potter for the next one right at sunset.
