August 26, 2008 Calabasas and Agoura Hills brushfire

08aug26_agoura_calabasas_fire_8006.jpgHere I was, minding my own business, beginning my drive east to visit mom in Palm Desert for two days of rest and relaxation, when I see a plume of smoke spiraling skyward above the hills of Calabasas! My visit would be delayed. I had all of my camera equipment with me (in case of storms in the desert). I spent about 60 minutes along Liberty Canyon Road in Agoura and then some time along the Ventura Freeway as the flames licked the freeway shoulder. The winds were fairly weak, and the firefighters did an excellent job extinguishing the blaze, protecting property, and stopping the fire’s progress at U.S. 101.

A motorist that was videoing the fireĀ  wound up passing me and my X-terra —- and posted on youtube!
