May 5, 2011 southeast KS junky storms

May 5, 2011 By Bill Leave a Comment

My first storm chase tour this season (Tempest Tours’ T2) began out of OKC on May 4.  Fair weather ruled, and we drifted north to Enid and had a meal at Phil’s BBQ.

On the 5th, we observed some storms around the Independence, KS, area.  We were drawn south and east a little into extreme northeastern OK.  The storms were not well organized, and the hilly and forested surroundings did little to boost the thrill of the chase.  We stayed in Miami, OK, for the night.
